INCOMPLETE BRIDGES INAUGURATIONS FANFARE The Khandepar bridge has reportedly ben inaugurated when the approach road has not been completed and is in fact hazardous to negociate! Ex CM Ravi Naik has alleged that neither has the contractor handed over the bridge to the PWD to enable it give a completion certificate, nor has the NHAI (National Highway Authority of India) declared it fit for transportation! In public interest, prudence requires stringent procedures and inspections must not to be short circuited. Now the new Mandovi bridge construction is being hastened so the PM can inaugurate it on 12th January 2019! Haste makes waste is well known and it appears this hurry is fueled by the BJP being unsure they will be in the saddle after the coming elections? The people will never forgive the BJP and politicians/ concerned authorities if as a consequence the over 500 crore bridge that has caused so much pain to the commuters during building, is not upto the mark as expected of such a reputed company and will be a boone for the people in longlasting safety and durability. Inflicting further pain and damages on the people and excuses due construction flaws will not be tolerated. Enough is enough! We have learnt the lesson after one Mandovi bridge did fall down.The government will put a lot of pressure on the bridge builders and the PWD (Highway)! Their hard work and reputation is at stake, and the larger picture is the nation's reputation and public safety. I pray they have the spine to resist and are professionally competent to ensure excellence as their hallmark.
