Guardian Angel SC hold Panjim Footballers
Guardian Angel Sports Club and Panjim Footballers played out a 1-1 draw in the Goa Football Association Goa Professional League match played at Duler Stadium, Mapusa, on Sunday. Guardian Angel's Clinton Niasso scored an 84th minute equaliser to cancel out Delton Colaco's 66th minute strike. In a much of a slow paced game there was not much of action in the first half. However, Guardian Angel's Sunny Fernandes had the best chance to send his side ahead in the game but much to his dismay his effort with only the keeper at his mercy was sent straight to the rival keeper. Guardian Angel's Precio DSouza went into referee's book just before the breather for his reckless tackle on Panjim player. The teams were tied 0-0 at the break. Changing over there was much life in the game as the teams showed attacking intent as they played long ball pushing the sides on their toes. Panjim Footballers finally took the lead in the 66th minute when Delton tapped in a cross from the left flank to send his team ahead in the game. Being a goal down, Guardian Angel Sports Club kept their cool maintaining possession and playing short passes and waited for their opportunity to score and the wait was over with six minutes from the final whistle when Nicholas Rodrigues dribbled down the right flank and played an aerial ball in the box which was brilliantly headed in by second half substitute Clinton Niasso. The teams tried but couldn't find the match winner as they had to settle for a draw.
