Churchill hit six past helpless Panjim Footballers
A spirited Churchill Brothers hit six past young Panjim Footballers in
the Goa Football Association Goa Professional League match played at
Duler Stadium, Mapusa.
The Red Machines started the onslaught as early as 6th minute through
Umesh Harijam as he was assisted by Nicolas. Nicolas came with another
assist as he set up Anthony Wolfe for team's second.
Once up by the first two goals, Churchill looked very confident on the
field and soon in the 23rd minute netted their third when Suraj turned
in Gilbert's cross.
Wolfe came with the fourth at the half hour mark and this time Cyrus was
the provider. The winners led 4-0 at the break.
Crossing over, the Red Machines continued from where they had left from
and scored the fifth when Clencio Pinto won the ball from the rival
defender and placed the ball in the far corner of the net.
The striker scored his second in the 56th minute in a similar fashion as
Clencio intercepted a back pass and dribbled past two rival defenders
before showing his class to finish in style.
Panjim reduced a goal back through Joyson Gaonkar but a comeback looked
far from impossible. Panjim received another set back when they were
reduced to 10 man following a straight red to Vallmiky Miranda.
Later Churchill Bros had a chance to further inflate to lead as Clencio
won a penalty but Abhishek's shot was saved by the rival keeper.
