Fr Agnelo YSC, Paroda got the better of ST Rock YC, Majorda in an
exciting match by 3-2 to advance to the Quarter Finals of the 15th All
Goa Guirdolim Panchayat Cup organized by Guirdolim Club and played at
Chandor Church ground, on Sunday.
Fr Agnelo YSC Paroda took the lead in the very first minute when Joel
Furtado capitalised on an error by the Majorda defenders and scored with
a placement shot. Finding themselves on the backfoot, Majorda tried to
create opportunities but were unlucky in the 15th when Ismail Pathan
missed an opportunity to put Majorda on level terms.
In the 19th minute, Majorda keeper spilled the ball and Ashwan Fernandes
who was lurking around tapped the ball into the nets. The score remained
2-0 in favour of Paroda at the lemon break. Changing over Majorda
regrouped well and in the 38th minute Ismail Pathan made amends for his
earlier miss by scoring the 1st goal for Majorda capitalizing on the
Paroda keepers mistake.
In the 48th Minute Ismail Pathan put Majorda on level terms when he
dribbled past a couple of Paroda defenders and took a placement shot
which found the back of the nets. Just when it looked like the match was
heading for the tie breaker, Sezvin Fernandes of Paroda beat the Majorda
off side trap and latched onto a Kanchan Kiro through ball and rounded
the keeper for the winning Goal.
Fr Agnelo YSC, Paroda will now meet Dicarpale SC in the quarter finals
on the 3rd of February.
