Wanted: A New Political Party to Safeguard Women Rights! A Party of women, by women - for women empowerment!
In the history of Christianity it is said there is a historical event which changed the course of history. The impregnation of Mary by the Holy Spirit. She was a virgin who gave birth to Jesus, the son of God. He was the savior who was sent by God to save mankind. And, this changed the history of the world. On another level today - a micro level - Goa is dying and we are in need of a savior. As the problem is not to do with religion but politics we don't want one individual but a political party or we will be heading for a dictatorship. Men have so far been nothing less than a disaster for Goa, and Goan politics. There is no future in voting for men irrespective of political colors. Their values are color blind: it is all the same. Now is the time to give women a chance: women have never been given an equal opportunity; even though India is making strides in Space exploration the other sex has yet to take off the ground. Indian women today are still fighting for basic rights, even to enter temples. Now, this cannot go on indefinitely! And, why should it? The perquisite for eligibility to join this political party should be this: women who are to be selected to fight elections should not have been active in politics, and in fact far removed from it. They should be educated and of good character. If they succumb to greed later on there is nothing which can be done about it at present. Men so far have been consistently dishonest, and it will now be the turn for women to take over the wheels of the State. Anyway, that is on a theoretical level; on a practical level there is no all-Goa political party for women to safeguard women's rights as yet. It is for women to start a new political party in their fight for equality. There is a great discontent among voters - women and some men, too - about the political climate in Goa. Over the years we have seen one corrupt political party replacing another which shares the same values, more of less. Now is the time for a new women's political party and new blood flowing in the veins of our future politicians. Women, and a lot of men also who are against corruption will vote for a new generation of women politicians. If women vote for women the men politicians will have to think again and again about their political future. The level of disgust and disillusionment among voters in Goa is total, and women have never had as good an opportunity as this golden opportunity to galvanize their strength to begin a new era to bring Goa to another level. There was the Liberation of Goa and yet we were not completely free. Then, we had the Opinion Poll and Goa choose to be a free State. And, we are still not free. The women of Goa have a historic opportunity to break the last of the shackles, and free us all - women and men!
