HOW PEOPLE VIEW ELECTIONS Elections period sends jitters to the stability of parties and politicians. The charisma may have some swing, but it is not the only focus. The development which touches voters personally that counts for support. In that matter rural contacts of MLA, Local bodies functionaries have better influence on their suggestions. The National projects of significant importance do not attract voters. Parties have been voted out and so also the politicians at every election. The chances of old faces to return are better than new faces to succeed and break barrier. Hence more politicians are being reappointed. India can no longer be the bastion of rural and urban divide, Caste factor has prevailed for long, but this therapy has lost its efficacy. Religious alignment did dominate in the past for consolidation of votes. Voters are no more swayed by mere oratory .There are states which did not have noticeable orators, but their re-elections umpteen times was related to their development on the ground which was a reality . The idea of political alliances are more influencing the decision of voters at present junction and voters more inclined to support
The rise and dominance of regional parties are threat to aspiration pan India National party dominance, as Regional parties are closer to the aspiration of local voters, accountable and approachable. , The new voters and women are most likely to change the fortunes. Unfortunately large number of female, illegible voters are omitted by design or not is a hard to guess. The voters with Epic cards are listed out at times. Women are much more conscious voters in rural and urban areas in comparison with men. Women are no more dominated by opinion of men in the family, but exercise their choice freely and independently, The reservation of women has not passed the muster of BJP in spite of having brute majority, because they are frightened of women power , emancipation and liberation Congress promise on women reservations is mumkin hai India has gone to mars an advanced in space technology but still far away on index of development of food clothing, drinking water. education, health and housing. Imagine issues in elections bashing Chowkidar analogy, surgical and space strikes and trumping on Bagalkot achievement are primary, core issues of BJP, coupled with indispensable Modi versus raga. The long term issues are education , health, employment,farmers distress, All the slogans of last elections caught the imagination of voters and the change was an opportunity to rectify. But unfortunately the BJP Govt was low on delivery . Demonetization and GST has broken back of the people .To the educated and others it is employment and underemployment that pinches them most, The farmers community is neglected and distress , suicides, droughts, lack of remunerative prices is shaking the rulers. The loans to industrialist are written off, while small loans of farmers are pursued with vengeance. The freebies will no longer entice the wise voters as incentives of deceit for which finally they will have to cough up Fooling by no delivery of promises is a bad bargain The media whether electronic , print are accused of being on pay role and dishing out fake and paid news. The people no longer trust their views and are skeptical about veracity. The social media is more personal and selective is considered reliable ,in spite of its limitations of origin The voters are allergic to personal attacks of candidates rather than policies and issues. There are no public debates but one sided election meetings and press releases. Indian democracy is maturing and old and tested election propaganda will have its end. The sensitive electorate has favourably responded to Congress scheme as doable and MUMKIN HAI. The ruling party image is eroded on its sloganeering approach that paid dividend last time around. Putting total reliability and infallibility on one man ,shows the weakness. The belittling of past leaders, and combined effort of development over decades cannot just be wished away as disgraceful attitude of gross ignorance and drum beating Congress is proving to be the only thorn in BJP march to renewed mandate and hence all the exercise of portraying the organization in bad light will be costly, counter productive .The over emphasis on Nationalism and pseudo patriotism, cow politics and Mandir will show diminishing returns by raising emotional content The secular fabric of India with inclusiveness of all citizens and cherished values of democracy will be uppermost in the mind of sensitive and wise electorate and will no longer be swayed by oratory and charisma alone.
