It used to perplex me when I read that China has been masterminding a massive
silk belt road and network project. That it has been infusing down-and-out
African countries with cash. That is has been fortifying and occupying tiny
islands in the Pacific Ocean. That it has been building and running vital ports
in Pakistan, Iran and Sri Lanka.  What was the grand design I wondered. Was it
to control essential resources for the future like oil, metals and minerals,
fish stock and fresh water?

It would appear that China has learnt well right from the 1500's when the
Western Powers came to Asia to trade; and built a sires of trading, refueling
and repair stations along the way.  Of course this started with the Portuguese
and continued with the Dutch, France, and Britain.
It would appear that the Chinese can never win in the eyes of European Powers.
They physically attacked China because they were isolated and now China is
verbally attacked because they are outward looking.
It is time China, India and other Asian countries chart their own course in
their own hemisphere.  These countries have smart leaders, trained in the
Western economics and strategies.
