"I believe in ancestry and legacy and how things don't go away"- Cianfrance

This under-rated and ambitious thriller-drama about the cycle of inherited poverty and privilege is uniquely structured, deeply moving and features
some of the best performances of future stars Ryan Gosling and Bradley
Cooper.

A harsh indictment of the 'mythical' American dream, Cianfrance examines the
great disparity between the poor whose lack of options ensures their
constant struggle for survival and the white elites whose privilege never
leaves them.

The film also poses these important questions-

Who are the real criminals? What's the difference between lawbreakers and its upholders? Does privilege ever go away or is it simply passed on from
generation to generation?
