A "Hobo" is an itinerant worker who travels and finds temporary / seasonal work
usually on a farm, on the railroad, in a city doing odds-and-ends, or in the
tourist industry.
A "Tramp" travels but mostly does not work.
A "Bum" neither travels nor works.
What all of these individuals have in common is "story-telling."  Talk is free.
Even if you take nothing, you carry the stories.  Even if others take
everything one has, one still has ones yarns.  Sharing tales and retelling
stories about ones youth and why and where one travelled helps with
reconnecting and sharing common experiences.
The above individuals believe in having nothing and thus owning nothing. A hobo
is homeless by choice, though most of them have a semi-permanent address for
winter or for a mail address.
In some respects passing through this world is a collection of stories.
Regards, GL
