Today carbon emissions are generally held responsible for global
warming/climate change. Decades ago some claimed that urbanization was the
culprit. Some years ago I read that the laying of railway tracks across vast
areas of Africa caused a decline of rainfall along the areas where the tracks
were laid. Also that urbanization and deforestation would result in some
mountains in Africa losing their snow caps. The latter has already occurred.
Nowadays we not only have high rise buildings spreading everywhere, but also
miles of concrete roads, bridges and flyovers. Must not these too have effect
on the climate?
