The reason being obvious as 10 MLA’s of the 15 Indian National Congress who were in the Opposition until late afternoon Wednesday 10th July,2019 strictly in adherence to the merger principal (2/3rds) in an unexpected revolt quit the INC to join the BJP led Government headed by Dr Pramod Sawant . This would see the BJP Government acquiring a absolute majority comprising of of 27 MLAs, and would not need the support of the Goa Forward, Independents the lone MGP and NCP MLA's extending it support. With the monsoon session of the State Legislative Assembly commencing on Monday 15thJuly, 2019 this comes as a consolidation of the Dr Pramod Sawant led BJP Government in Goa who took office following the demise of ex CM Manohar Gopalkrishna Prabhu Parrikar in March, 2019.
