Hi Thought I will share this with you.
1) In June, I got to learn that a "Diego Louis Pereira" (no relation by the way), formerly from Mombasa, had passed away in Hayes, Kent, UK on 1st May 2019. As per the "Death Announcement" that appeared in *Goan Voice UK *on 14th June 2019, reference was made as follows: *".... DIEGO LOUIS PEREIRA. Ex Mombasa. Aged 81. .........Diego Louis was the grandson of Diogo Luis (Bwana Khubwa) Pereira, an early Goan pioneer in Mombasa, and a successful ship's chandler. In 1901 he opened a Reading Room where occasional Mass would be held. He was involved in the creation of the first Goan club in Mombasa. ......." * 2) Having come across the name of his grandfather: *'DIOGO Luis Pereira'* a few times in my school research, I thought this would be an opportune time to release my findings on this remarkable gentleman in Mombasa Goan history. Attached herein, is a chapter entitled: *"A Very Influential Mombasa Goan Pioneer: Diogo Luis Pereira".* This chapter is my tribute to this historically important 'Mombasa-associated-family' which will also serve as a valuable entry into the school archives.
