LOBO PLAYS STUNTS TO KEEP MANDOVI INFESTED WITH CASINOS
Michael Lobo after taking over as Ports Minister assured the House that the terminal building at the Captain of Ports jetty will be used purely for administrative purposes and not to house casino offices. Does he require such a big building for these administrative purposes? And at that particular location?? He even mentioned that he is ready to make a presentation in the house to the Opposition MLAs. In that context, he plans to shift these casinos to Verem side after consulting both MLAs of Saligao and Panjim and the boarding would to be done from Verem side itself! I dread to think if how much construction and damage will happen at the Verem end to make this happen. Parrikar and his confident chamchas including Capt of Ports James Braganza inaugurated a plaque is planning house these casinos at the jetty. The construction at NDZ area at the jetty point is in full swing and how will all this damage be undone? With the announcement of Lobo, the Captain of Ports James Braganza is now at a low key. Babush Monserrate was seen strongly protesting on the floor of the assembly and has assured that his word and his mission will be fulfilled/ accomplished with the help and support of his Chief Minister Pramod Sawant. Moving the casinos to Verem does not help the Mandovi, which is the life giving artery of Goa. Babush was always sympathetic towards the residents of Panjim and even the tourists who visit this state . This jetty was always remembered even during Portuguese time for the enjoyment and the scene of Mandovi river by standing and seating on earlier existing benches at the jetty. Why Lobo is going soft towards the casino lobby is not known when these casinos are already a headache for Panjimites as there is heavy congestion of traffic in the river. It has been reported and well known that these Casinos dump sewage and garbage in the river having lots of pollution. The government was all the time talking about a Gaming Commissioner but it appears to have been a ploy just to misguide the people. In fact, all the previous government were in favor of casinos running this business in the river Mandovi although it encourages gambling and prostitution. I am happy that Babush is trying to keep his word and the promises which he made in his Vision document. I'm sure he will see that they are fulfilled. He might have moved out from Congress and joined BJP to get rid of casinos and brighten the city of Panjim. It is sad that the BJP government is stifling the Opposition to that extent that it is impossible for them to function. But the silver lining is that Babush is continuing to work hard for the betterment of Panjim city. Thank You Babush. Stephen Dias Dona Paula 9422443110 27th July 2019ent from my Samsung device
