[Goanet] ST Joseph Vaz Basilica in GoaAdolfo Mascarenhas adcamas at gmail.com wrote: Thu Aug 8 01:58:13 PDT 2019 Mervyn Your observation about St John the Baptist is true However ....your volunteers .....raiding Kandy will only bring back a fake body ....*.My reading is that nobody even knows where he was buried.* My thoughts for the day still on art and the Basilica .....Let me quote Federico Felini "All art is autobiographical. The pearl is the oyster's autobiography" Adolfo =============================================================== Doc, This is exactly my point. There is no body to bring back nor is there now the need for a basilica to hold it in. If you cannot find St. Jose Vaz in your living space – you will never find him in Kandy. Nor will you find him in a brand new basilica. When I want something from a saint, I do not pray to him/her. All I do is flatter the saint. And the biggest form of flattery (I know) is to imitate the saint’s lifestyle. My fake raid on Kandy will bring back the tangible, I can guarantee you that. Fake relics, like placebo’s, can and do provide miraculous results. A prime example is the Shroud of Turin. Even though it has been thoroughly debunked, the shroud is still a focal point of belief and a very big money maker for Turin. Lastly, is it only me or are there others here who are as fascinated with St. Christina the Astonishing, as I am? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christina_the_Astonishing Mervyn
