Sr Dolorose laid to rest Sr Dolorose funeral scheduled today at 4.30 pm The body arrived from MP in an ambulance at 5.30 pm The Eucharistic celebration was by Archbishop Filipe Nery Ferrao along with more than 25 priests The outdoor stadium of St Mary's Convent was packed to capacity with nuns, parents , students of two schools , teachers , prominent citizens and family members Notable among the mourners was MP Françis Sardinha who also had family connections The Archbishop in his homily recalled her sacrifices of love and dedication of 36 years at Clergy Home Margao .He also emphasised her joyful , smiling disposition in her caring attitude The inclement weather with heavy downpour did not dampen the resolve of mourners .The mass got over at 6.45pm and it was dark Many of the mourners from far away places were hard put due to lack of public transport and left immediately after the mass Three nuns spoke at length about her journey of life, her role as an educationist,social worker and a concerned ,dedicated soul putting others before self .Her role as pioneer and founder of St Mary's Convent and Sarzora Convent came in for deserving praise. She had a pace maker and during first week of August shifted to MP for better care .Inspite of best medical help she did not survive and breathed last on 13 August .Respecting her last wish she was interned at Chinchinim . She lived a purposeful and satisfying life in her role for 87 years .Her friendly and smiling caring disposition endeared her to all The large gathering in heavy rains and at unusually delayed services was testimony of her popularity and respect she commanded Nelson Lopes Chinchinim
