Chinchinim village woes The post office has a sanctioned of 3 staff members including the postmaster . After one was transferred years back there is no replacement .The second staff is almost on regular basis deputed to other post offices akin to spare tyre This results in hardships to customers and long , enduring wait in Q’s. The customer base and income generated is by far in excess of neighbouring , Navelim,Cuncolim post offices The SP informed me to Contact Margao for help on deputation, when Margao is working with much less than actual sanctioned staff .Then there are breakdowns of aged old computer system coupled with Current failures A number of public reports by press have lighted the pitiable situation of the public , but the authorities remain indifferent and insensitive to public woes burying in sand like the ostrich The festering issue of over 3 years must be remedied by compliment of 3 staff sanctioned as per requirement The footpath in Chinchinim market is invaded by sellers . Hence the people are forced to use the road at a risk to life and limb. The Panchayat is merrily collecting revenues daily thus legitimising illegal trade. The safety of people is of no concern to the local body on preference to revenue generation The long acquired market site is mired in controversy for the last 10 years which on completion could have provided much needed de congestion , sanitation and ease of shopping etc Nelson Lopes Chinchinim
