Will be paying a courtesy call on our new Governor Satya Pal Malik tomorrow on 15th November at noon. Recalling my first visit to the Goa Raj Bhavan (Cabo Raj Niwas, as it was then known) which was in 1971 at the age of 11 to meet the then Lt. Governor Nakul Sen with a complaint about an illegal cowshed in Ribandar.
After that I have had the amazing privilege to interact with every successive Governor including the last Mridula Sinha. It has all been a very enlightening experience and enhancement of knowledge. The post of Governor is an important constitutional post and as the Chief executive of the State has Executive, Legislative, Judicial and Financial powers amongst other discretionary powers to ensure the smooth running of a State. Looking forward to this first meeting with the burly and seasoned Satya Pal Malik who has assumed office as Governor of our State on the 3rd of this month. Hoping it will be a free and frank exchange of views and thoughts as life is a continuous learning process. And after all we both have roots in student activism besides being also Law graduates. Mr. Governor, thank you for making the time to meet this very small man.
