*Out-of-Context – The Book Club*, invites you to a book reading and discussion on the graphic novel *Maus* by *Art Spiegelman*. In this novel the author aims to document the life of his father; Vladek, during the German occupation of Poland during WWII and his unwilling participation in the holocaust. With Nazi Germans as depicted as cats, Jews as mice and Poles as pigs, the narrative is fast paced and full of dark images dressed up in anthropomorphic forms, serving as a chilling reminder of one of history’s darkest events and the triumph of human tenacity and perseverance.
*Maus* by *Art Spiegelman* was the first graphic novel to win the Pulitzer Prize in 1992. *Date*: 30 November 2019, 6:00 PM *Venue*: Broadway Book Store, 18th June Road Panjim *Free entry, no registration*
