While gearing up in this festive fevour, a sumptuous authentic Goan fish Thali at ‘Star’ restaurant in our backyard at Sao Pedro with my very dear childhood friend and next door neighbor Francisco Frois who is based in Paris. Star’s Anand as always was an excellent host and his formalin free fish ever so awesome.
My fellow Ribandarite Francisco Frois is a multi talented soul and despite living in France keeps himself keenly abreast of all that is going on in our birthplace. A very multi talented and creative artist he has always been. It is so nice that our Ribandar folk are well settled all over the world but continue to love and revere their place of birth. Never failing in keeping Ribandar’s age old traditions alive. The name Ribandar originates from "Rayachem Bandar" meaning the wharves, docks or portage of the Rayas or Kings. Ribandar used to be very serene and beautiful nestled between the Goa’s capital Panjim and Old Goa. Sadly all that over the years has been dying away. Our Ribandar’s landscape is no longer the Ribandar we were born in.
