EU REGULATIONS TO PROTECT PRIVACY AND CITIZEN'S RIGHTS
It is reported that the Eupopean Union is considering banning facial regulation
technology for at least five years to give time to handle 5G technology and
prevent its misuse. Exceptions could be made for security projects and
research/ development! Both developers and Artificial intelligence users will
have an EU contries authority to monitor new rules! This is unlike our
government unilaterally jeopardising the citizen's privacy and security. There
is anger and loss of trust building up with the imposition of CAA and
government ncreasingly seems to be run by interests of a religious majority and
wants unrestricted survelliance. Widespread peaceful protests seeming to fall
on deaf ears and supression by maximum imposition of section 144 of IPC and
cutting off internet becoming the fashion. Permission given for an anti CAA
meeting in Mapusa was revoked because two groups threatened to disrupt the
meeting on the usual ruse of law and Order which the police/government are
incompetant/incapable of ensuring? Rushing into E governance, cashless society,
net banking, 5G, facial recognition etc without proper infrastructure and
without proper discussion is immature democratic governance that acts first and
thinks later which seems to be the norm. The Supreme Court no less, has at last
cautioned the government on misuse of section 144 and shutting off internet for
long periods to deny peaceful protests/ dissent, but the very important ruling
seems to have fallen on deaf ears! Makes me wonder who really are the tukde
tukde gang.
