With the imminent dropping of a minister or two the BJP would do well to project from now on an image of a party which will support efficient, intelligent and educated women representatives rather than some people who are crooked and corrupt.
The victory in Delhi has made a lot of people in Goa feel it is possible to have representatives who are not corrupt, and the sooner the BJP projects this image, then it will start to move from strength to strength. The victory of AAP in Delhi is no mystery. The people want education and healthcare and clean water and better air and the AAP gave it to them. A lot of their basic needs were taken care of by the party which is the stuff of day to day life, and are real issues. To a parent the children’s education is paramount and if inexpensive or even better free, the parents will feel a gratitude and vote for the people in power. Parents themselves are interested in good healthcare as this is a concern of ageing people. Now all this is not rocket science and when corruption is reduced it is possible to do a lot for the citizen as there is money available. People in Goa are not interested in 20-metre roads but safe food, water, and air. The government is unfortunately more interested in building bridges and other structure which is an invitation to people from all over India to settle in Goa. I hope the BJP government will show the people of Goa it has turned the corner and has seen the light by appointing honest people as ministers and not simply replace the bad with the worse. Make MLA Alina Saldhana a minister and show the people of Goa how the BJP government in the state is willing to walk the talk.
