The Govt of India is taking serious steps to contain the spread of deadly
contagious CoviD 19 That is the best preventive measure in the light of poor
health services in India, specially in the Northern states, Sanitisers and
masks are off the selves already . Large gatherings are to be avoided ,and
foreigners are under severe restrictions to enter
IPL is attempting to hold the carnival under closed doors .It is a popular
sport in India, it is almost a religion , an opium that mesmerises the cricket
lovers . What happens to the support staff and interaction with players in
hotels etc. It will be an uphill task to monitor, trace their contacts if need
be . How the foreign players from specified areas will be permitted in face
of ban? Besides enthusiasts will gather in groups of unknown persons at
hotels, etc to comment and enjoy. Sports is not be played in vacuum .
Health should be a priority not revenues .True the economic aspects a re
huge but businesses too have taken a big hit due to similar reasons. An
attempt to circumvent advisory is not in the right spirit. No citizen can be
subject to risk when WHO has declared it as pandemic . India being populous
country preventive measures ate the best means . It will be criminal act to
ignore the risks by greed of revenues or loss that may be incurred IPL is a
money spinner paying as much as 15 crores on individual fees. The slashing of
prize money has not gone down well with the participants. IPL is a drain on
foreign exchange , irrespective of generating broadcasts revenues. IPL is
doubtful fiesta to increase the standards of cricket . The players have no
loyalty, except their own cause. IPL is a signature event for India and BCCI
and hence postponement or cancellation is in thinkable. World over many
prestigious sports are cancelled and even Olympics are under a scanner. as
infections are spread from human to humans
ISL final in Goa on 14 March in defiance of the advisory is planning close
door event. It is killing the love of sports and soccer enthusiasts by
organising the finals in vacuum This is definitely not the best way forward
when public gatherings and events are banned and for very good reasons. Human
lives in India are at a discount
Heavens will not fall , if for one season IPL is closed .Better sense must
prevail rather than revenue collections as a sole priority over health
considerations
