The Brits were also annoyed to no end when PT kept the PT nationality open to all the people of Macao at the eve of the agreed transfer of the territory to the PRC, something UK adamantly refused to grant (UK nationality) to the people in Hong Kong. They complained repeatedly to the EU Commission about PT's 'behaviour' - to no avail. Bravo Portugal, which now has granted full citizenship rights to all refugees on its soil for the duration of the Corona crisis. The British government would rather drown them given half a chance ...
