The recording by Merle Haggard was released in 1968 and became of his career 
cornerstone songs. It focuses on the pain and suffering he caused to his own 
mother by being incarcerated in San Quentin, one of America’s infamous maximum 
security prisons, in 1957.

This version is by Rhonda Vincent one of country music’s most famous bluegrass 
singer and Emmy award winner who has sung with Nashville’s best.
