Ever heard of 'Goddachem Fottfottem'?
Jaggery 'Godd' (product of sugarcane) is melted and brought to the boiling
point and then
immediadely taken off the fire. Cool it and then eat (dark coffee colour with
elasticity) the
'fottfottem'. We loved it those days.
Modern 'fottfottem' is made up of Coconut, ginger etc
Why not just call it 'mottor-Saikol'? (Motor Cycle).
Remember the song played on Akashvanni Ponnje? (Kellar ani Mallar children

To my knowledge, the Konkani word for motorcycle is fottfottem, given after
the sound it
makes - fotto-fotto-fotto-fotto. Miguel novem fottfottem ghevn kal amger
eilolo.
(Yesterday, Miguel visited us on his new motorcycle).
The Konkani word for car is danvterem. "Dumingachem Consul danvterem sobit
dista". (Domnic's
Consul Car looks beautiful).But I could be wrong.
