Grandolfo is a very fortunate person for finding himself in Quepem his ancestral village in Goa, confined due to a lockdown on international travel.
My long-term advice to him would be to hunker down in Goa for the next decade and watch the events unfolding in his home country of Tanzania in particular and Africa in general as the Great Recession unfolds globally, before he decides to return. Tanzania is beholden to the Chinese for large loans given for infrastructure building and resource exploiting and if the Chinese are in a bind since a bright light is shining on them, they will squeeze Africa among other strategic moves made in order to survive. Tanzania like India is a corrupt country. Their respective rankings are 37 and 41 respectively on the Transparency Index. But the similarity ends there. Food insecurity is high in Tanzania with low consumption levels at 55% in deprived regions. India on the other hand is agriculturally sufficient, problems being only with storage and distribution. Goa in particular doesn’t starve, thanks to its neighbours. India with its robust economy, will bounce back. Tanzania will be crippled for a very long time and dependent on future aid. So Prof Mascarenhas will be able to happily pursue whatever he dreams up by way of exploits by letting fate be his fortune in the land of his forefathers. Roland. Toronto.
