Sicko validated my own experiences with the U.S. health system both
as a consumer and on the provider side. I thought Moore's expose' of
insurance companies, the Nixon-Kaiser plot etc..was brilliant.

I also thought that the portrayal of benefits of socialized healthcare
was a bit too romantic. I am inclined to think of that as creative
license to dramatize difference and intended to heighten impact.

Like Mervyn, I am interested in hearing of positive and negative
experiences from folk living in Canada, UK, France, Cuba and other
countries that have socialized healthcare. Goa, I believe has a mix of
both public and private healthcare providers.

The U.S. system is sicko. Could the treatment plan come from Goa?

BTW, if you do eventually get a chance to see Sicko,
the Canadian part is pretty well portrayed. I wonder
if UK residents have any comments on the way their
health system is described. I was astounded by the
services the French provide. The biggest revelation,
however, was the level of health services combatants
receive in the American part of Cuba. If anyone is
interested, I would like to discuss health services in
Goa.
