Inspired by David Bowie’s ‘Space Oddity’ the song was played as a keyboard riff
(short musical pattern that’s repeated and forms the foundation of a song) by
Joey Tempest achieved with a Yamaha rack unit layered with a Roland synthesizer.

Originally used as an introduction for concerts, it became a billboard hit in
1986 when the Swedish rock band ‘Europe’ released it as a single performing the
number with an energy burst common to that era.

You’re also bound to enjoy a version by the young students of the School of
Rock in Chicago IL, a music education company with a performance based
curriculum. Erin, one of the keyboardists wearing the rainbow shirt, “owns” the
song with her rock-star performance, faces and all.
