With the monsoons at our doorstep, it is so very distressing that our Ribandar residents are still grappling with the awful roads that were recklessly dug up last year and continue to be dug for that never ending underground cabling.
While we are at mercy of roads which are in a very precarious state and so accident prone, the local MLA Babush Monseratte must be busy under the cover of COVID-19 and in the midst of the lock-down busy converting the remaining fields and hills at his plumb posting at the very lucrative Greater Panaji Planning Development Authority. During last year’s Panaji by-polls Babush Monseratte had opened an office at Ribandar which he had promised would remain open to serve the people. But on the very day the results were declared the doors of that office were shut for good. Ribandar is lacking in basic facilities while our locality has remained neglected despite being on the outskirts of Goa’s capital. Ribandar may be part of the Corporation of City of Panaji but as far as overall development and civic amenities is concerned, we remain utterly neglected and in a decaying state despite the very high municipal taxes we pay. Erratic power and water supply is the order of the day. There are even some villages in Goa that are much better off. For decades Ribandar has been demanding a football ground, a community hall and a proper market but it is very anguishing that these long standing demands of Ribandarites are yet to be fulfilled. We do not have a Children’s park or a garden nor a public library and there is lack of proper sanitation with garbage strewn all over. It’s high time there is a sewage pipeline in place. And in the Fonduvem Ward of Ribandar even the dead are denied a proper crematorium to Rest in Peace.
