At Kakarpura village, twenty miles from Agra, it was admitted that it was “illegal” for a “lower caste” person to be denied cremation by the upper castes. The “caste system was too deep rooted,” and that eventually after six hours of altercation, a “balance” was found - in favour of the dominant groups.
