If one remembers clearly Dr. Martins faced dadagiri and humiliation from the
late Parrikar. Dr. Martins was dragged from his home in pyjamas and sent to
jail. He later showed regret for having 'fought' in the 'freedom movement'.
This is what he said to Senhor Floriano Lobo of Goa Suraj:
Mr. Lobo, he said:
"I regret the day I took up the fight against the Portuguese."
"I wish I had the sense then to do the opposite"

================By Jose Francisco Martins

In this memoir, Dr Martins writes of his village of Salvador do Mundo, his
participation in Goa?s freedom movement and imprisonment at Aguada Jail,
the rout of Congress Party in the first Goa elections and his role in the
community. Interesting nuggets of history in there!
