Roland, three words "follow the money". For the right-wing, how do you make money: Military industrial-complex and fake wars, being anti-Muslim, anti-gay, anti-black, anti-women, anti-minorities. Keep the hate going which generates TV viewership, book deals, etc. Politics is a $$$ business. Faux (Fox) News and the right-wing haters know how to fleece people. Look how much money Trump is making off his cult, challenging the election even though everyone knows he lost. The right-wing knows how to monetize hate. If you have zero morals, zero integrity, then grift and lies is not a sin. So when you ask about whether lies, narcissism, infantile behavior matters, no it does not - it is actually the means towards the end.
For the left-wing, also follow the money: How does one get votes? Promise free things to a lot of people and then tax the rich to pay the bills (although deficit spending is popular - who cares about robbing future generations and saddling them with debt - everyone pays lip service about our future and children, but no one really cares - besides economic destruction, environmental destruction). So promise a lot of freebies and get votes. Cynical, but true. Same with Goa... follow the money, currently all Goa's major ills tie in to land corruption which Goans are completely complicit in.
