While the Goa Government is busy splashing over a 100 crores in celebrating Goa’s 60th year of Liberation and with the President of India. Ram Nath Kovind here, it is so very appalling and distressing that the staff of the Goa Police who were deployed over the last three days for all that Security arrangements have been left high and so dry without even a drop of water to quench their thirst or a single grain to stomach their hunger.
Despite the Goa Human Rights Commission having more than once reminded the Government that police personnel are Human beings and should so be treated, the authorities have once again miserably failed to make proper arrangements including food, water and toilet facilities for the police personnel posted for that duty. While the Government went overboard in making all extravagant arrangements for the visiting dignitaries, it has as expected once again conveniently neglected to cater for the basic fundamental and human rights of its own police personnel. The authorities have yet again lost sight that the police personnel too have a personal life and the Government cannot be allowed to be a cause for ruining their health and lives while acting in grave and gross Human Rights violations of the Police personnel in the State. It has and will continue to be my resolute decision till my last breath to stand by firmly in support of our Goa Police force that have been made to work in so inhumane conditions even when the Constitutional head of the Country is here. The Goa Government has a lot to explain. Over to you Mr. Chief Minister.
