Given the very precarious condition of the State exchequer, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant should meticulously ensure that all unnecessary expenditure is avoided. For a debt ridden government, the 100 crores being spent on the year-long celebration of Goa’s liberation is needless. Holding IIFI next month will be another criminal waste of public funds.
People expect in these times more than ever that their hard earned taxes entrusted to the Government will be spent wisely and prudently to gain maximum value for money and on priority projects that will serve the common good and for generations to come. This can only be achieved if incompetence, waste and any form of corruption is stamped out. Transparency and Accountability in all that is done is paramount. The Government is responsible for protecting the rights of the people that are defined in the Constitution and for upholding the law at all times. It is incumbent on those in power to ensure democracy prevails and to provide equal rights to the people.
