Today Feb 4 is marked as World Cancer Day to raise awareness of and take action
for cancer.

In 2019, out of a population of 35 million, over 220,000 Canadians were
diagnosed with cancer and 82,000 died from it. During their lifetime, nearly 1
in 2 Canadians will be diagnosed with cancer, and 1 in 4 will die from the
disease. Lung, colorectal, breast and prostate cancers account for half of all
cancers diagnosed in Canada.

For those who might want it, there is Critical Illness Insurance that is a
living benefit paid out in a tax free lump sum to spend as you wish, on
diagnosis of cancer, heart attack and a few other life threatening illnesses.
The typical payout is $50,000, topping out at 2 million.
