Frankly I am greatly disturbed with with some of the recent decisions being taken by the powers to be: First Cable Car to Kilimanjaro ...who owns the Cable Car ...a Swiss or American Franchise <<<<b) What happens to the livelihood of the hundreds of Porters who used to track and carry and guide Tourists>>> >>>c) If the stay per day of the tourist is cut by nearly half ....direct revenues to Tanzania will fall significantly...Further more there is still the question of paying for the franchise. <<<d Storms on Mt Kilimanjaro can be sudden in clear skies....Some years ago we were travelling by a SwissAir DC 8 ...we left Dar before Sunrise...as we approached Nr, Kili, the Pilot announced that the view was fantastic,,I was on the left side in the business class, my University friend and his Family, in fact from Kilimanjaro Region was on the same side. I had my seat belt on ....The turn started ....then the plane plunged downwars by nearly 5,000 feet or more .. My Professor friend screamed and actually cried to the Lord....his head hit the luggage rack above ..The skill of the pilot saved us ..he went on a glide ..in the direction of Nairobi and the savanna plains below ..... The Pilot apologized and then came out to see if the Passengers were OK ...I saw his blue shirt drenched with sweat. ::: On another occasion Swissair over Crete ....it was so rough ....we had fly and land in Athens ...An Egyptian and his Scandanavian Wife...they were both belted but he called on Allah to save us ...That weekend I saw the Egyptian at an Embassy Party ...when his blond wife joined him ...I realized where I had seen him and we exchanged pleasantaries.
DICEY DECISION TWO in 2021: THe Ngorongoro Conservation Area Authority a few days ago stated that they want to increase the milk supply of the local people ...They would brin new breed of cattle, (I do not know from where but could be Ireland, Netherlands etc). What exactly are they going to feed them with maize or corn from USA or Europe. It this was done elsewhere in Arusha Region or even around NCAA it would be less risky...(I am alluding to the Dairy Industry in Saudi Arabia ...run my Irish ...Cows delightfully happy in their Air conditioned Manger ...I wonder whether the Saudis have heard of Solar Power All that glitters is not Gold Adolfo Mascarenhas In Makongo Juu My neighbour a former VC actually kept about a dozen cows in a shed...there was milk galore ...He has passed on his children are professionals ....they have other interests ...but the shed is still there.
