THE COVID TSUNAMI
After the first wave we had the PM and BJP boasting about how India
sucessfully handled Covid compared to the world. Vaccines were distributed to
many nations and praise came from the UNO and others! These are facts. The
travails of the people have never come before the ego of the government. Right
from the enormous sufferings due to demonitazation, declaring lockdown with 4
hrs notice and the pathetic suffering migrant exodus, loss of jobs etc, people
were angry but the PM took no responsibility for his shock and awe governance
which has numbed the people! PR and dramatics took priority over policy. The
opposition or people were to blame for everything that went wrong. Instead of
learning lessons from the first wave, converting all the troll centres with
centralized Covid war room and coordinating with the states at least when the
second wave hit, the PM continued relishing many road shows along with his star
campaigners at boastful massive rallies where covid norms were thrown to the
winds with the EC looking on! Religious festivals like the Khumb Mela where
thousands congregate were also permitted. All this created superspreaders and a
more vicious Covid is hitting us like a Tsunami. All hospitals are now
overfull, people with waiting for hours in ambulances and cars with patients
begging for attendance, there is shortage of oxygen, ventilators, vaccines,
medecines, doctors and nurses, crematoriums , graveyards are full and bodies
being burnt in parking areas etc. Goa comparatively seems to be still on the
free for all highway. The household budgets are precarious, inflation and prices
skyrocketting, jobs being lost/not available, the nations finances already in
the red will take a further dive. Who is responsible for this state of affairs
is obvious.Thankfully the High courts at last stepped in, but the Supreme Court
suo motu has taken over, I cannot understand why! Lets hope the new CJI will
restore our faith in law and order with justice. God help families to survive
and get out of this crisis. It is good to be optimistic and think positive, but
not live in a fools paradise.
