Based on reports from the ground, the number of COVID cases are much higher in Goa. The situation is very dire, a combination of open tourism, new variants of the virus, a false sense things were permanently getting better, continuing super-spreader events, lack of social distancing, lack of using face-masks, low rate of vaccinations and overall mismanagement of the crisis.
