On the subject Spanish Flue …Lest we Forget It was named Spanish Flue partly because Spain did not participate in World War I. But it affect troops on both sides Germans vs UK/France etc. There were two very unrelated events First : Tired of Wars and death and destruction it was decided by the Big Powers to start a LEAGUE of NATIONS, with its Headquarters in Geneve …. Woodrow Wilson accompanied by his wife attended the inaugural meeting. He may have contacted the flue and suffered from serious hallucinations, including seeing a black dog. His wife took good care of him and even when they returned to the WHITE HOUSE, she was the one who handled the administration etc….the few who knew about Wilsons serious predictment, called it the Petticoat Kingdom. Ironical that Macho USA cannot think of a Woman as head of the State (c/f UK, Norway, New Zealand, India etc etc) The Spanish Flu lingered for a long time and as you point out millions died. ….but once again not as bad as the Plague in Europe about 500 years ago …The contagion spread because there was nobody to bury the dead. .....or to have church services...The Pope The decided for a general pardon !!! Finally, a mild version of the Spanish Flue appeared in 1956. I was then working on a Temporary Job in the Post Office in DSM, in the special Parcel Section (Detained Parcels everything from Diamonds, to expensive watches) ...OK I got the flue I was down for 4 days .....it changed me completely when I went to Makerere...I could manage my time well, became interested in the bigger issues, like the Pioneer Fringe, the Celtic Fringe etc ...
