Aires Rodrigues: We must applaud the entire staff of the Electricity department from the Chief Engineer to the linesman helper for working tirelessly to restore the Power supply across the State which was snapped by the cyclone that ripped through Goa.
The Chief Engineer and the department are owed no thanks but rather condemnation. The department is ill equipped with no no basic equipment like protective gear, chainsaws, et. Today is 5 days since the power went off. For the first three days no work was done in Moira. Citizens helped with clearing fallen trees. The excuse being given is some staff have tested poitive. Shouldn't the department have employed contractors to do the work of restoration of power. Shouldn't the department be well equipped? For the linesmen I have full praise because they work under trying conditions. And lastly, as paying customers aren't we enntitled to continuous uninterrupted power? Tony
