In the Catholic view, MAID would be a narrative of cowardice; not facing up to 
the suffering and sacrifice that death sometimes entails.

But in another world view, dying, when you have control over it, should be an 
act of dignity, a culmination of a life lived well and often an act of love and 
selflessness in making those who care for you, drag out their own suffering at 
your distress, a little less than it would.

Whichever way you look at it, this act of a terminally ill couple should be 
able to strike a cord and inspire you to live in courage, even if you are in a 
non-death related dire situation.

If you don’t agree, take the time to look at a bird or animal dying, maybe your 
own household pet. See the calm and fortitude in which it faces the end - not 
with tears and yelping but with a quiet dignity.
