Fernandes has been asked by North Goa collector R Menaka to explain in three days why no action should be taken for attempting to mislead the government through the submission of fabricated educational qualifications. “Yes, a show cause notice is issued for claiming that he possessed a BA degree,” a source said. Fernandes submitted fabricated educational certificates from Lucknow-based Bhartiya Shiksha Parishad to claim that he had a BA degree and is thus eligible to apply for the post of Awal Karkun at the North Goa collectorate. On March 16, advocate Aires Rodrigues had urged the North Goa collector to file an FIR at the Panaji police station against Fernandes for submitting a fake BA degree.
