Hi all, a few days ago in Goanet someone wanted to know whether any one had connection with Mozambique ......I know a couple of Goans who in the recent past had such connections, one who moved from DSM to LM .
However I am writing mainly because of the nasty situation prevailing in parts of rural area of Mozambique and specifically Cabo Delgado . My information is based on what has appeared in the British Press, ( Daily Telegraph) It is not only an Islam led Terrorist group fighting the foreign European, mainly French Oil Company but also the plunder by opportunist on precious stones, timber, land and enslavement of people Dr Mesaki and myself did a reconnaissance trip to Bagamoyo a few days ago. What struck me is the neglect of such a historic area where individuals from different communities did lasting human activities ...is the Jamatkhana still there, is Sewa Haji who reminded the German Governor that "our people also get sick. when he heard that the Hospital Built by the Germans was rated the best in Tropical Africa but it was only for European. Sewa Haji agreed to foot the bill to build Sewa Haji Hospital. The Hospital Haji paid for was overlooking Dar es Salaam near the Railway station. I know the spot, I went there before going to Makerere and was proclaimed fit by Dr Wilbert Chagula, one of the three African Lecturer in Makerere .....::: I am writing because there is a new type of colonialism that is prevailing ....It reminds me of the Heart of Darkness which I read more than 4 decades go. A Polish aristocrat called Josef Teador Konrad Naleoz Koreniowski wrote about the horrors in the name of Development One of the characters JC met on *29 July 1890 was* Tippo Tip name is derived from the sound of rapid firing machine guns ... from Zanzibar. H e was acting on behalf of the Sultan of Zanzibar I am writing this piece because like Josephs Conrad s description in the Congo more than 13 decades ago, there is a new type of exploitation taking place. We can make a difference if we expose them Grandolfo PS I have copied this mail to one of the major institutions dealing with Poverty In Makongo Juu ,
