GOA BHUMIPUTRA BILL UNDER PRESSURE BY Stephen Dias Social Activist and resident of Panjim 2.8.2021 9422443110
The Supreme Court has expressed that all illegal constructions carried out are serious as murder and rape and there is no way they will be regularised. The sincere public cannot tolerate henceforth such an attitude coming up from builders. We witness tremendous irregularities going on in this state of Goa in these recent years. Even the construction coming up nearby St Cajetan church at Old Goa being Heritage site having declared by ASI wasn't spared. With this attitude from builders and owners in connvinance with the authorities is going to set a bad example to others and soon will be a disaster. Now, we are heading with much more situation as the bill on Goa Bhumitra Adhikaran is introduced and passed just recently on the floor of assembly awaiting assent from the Governor R. S. Sreedharan Pillai who is suppose to act as per rules. Already memorandum by different parties in Goa have been presented to him. This bill if passed will allow encroachment by slum dwellers for more than 30 years legal and declare him ( BHUMIPUTRA) meaning son of the soil as well as ownership of 250 square metres of land. In fact we the original Goans who are residing lesser years will be considered in a lower position as (fracas) than the slum dwellers! Hopefully such a situation doesn't arise. Stephen Dias 2.7 2021
