The Chinese built the longest bridge in the world between Hong Kong amd Macau -55 km in length. The beautiful Nobre de Carvalho bridge built some 50years ago linking Macau peninsula and the outlaying islands still stands strong with its continuous maintenance. BC =================
I refer to Item 3 of Mr. Rajan Parrikar, Vol.16, Issue 421Three Bridges over the Mandovi when One would be enough.In October 1960 the Overseas Ministry, Portugal, invited international bids for three bridges over the Rivers Mandovi and Zuari in Goa, and River Sandalcalo in Daman.Portuguese engineers had come to the conclusion that all three rivers were highly treacherous during the monsoons and bridges on piles would not stand the pressures so the bids were for suspension bridges, one over each river. Unfortunately the orders were delayed especially as the Goan company responsible for collecting the toll could not be decided upon before the conquest and subjugation of Goa on December 20, 1
