Choose the right candidate Does the voter have the right choice? Or does he has to choose the lesser evil . ? None of the above option is meaningless.Except that it satisfies your conscience not to be a part of forced option. The right to recall demand has not taken off the ground. Also that defectors be barred ar least for two successive terms and holding public office of any kind too is a non starter The right given to Speaker to decide is debatable Some papers carry out sustained campaign of educating the voters. IT may touch of minuscule few by reasons of right decisions .The voters are largely motivated by personal equation with the candidate caste, religion and some petty favours received or promises made The voter has no choice on candidates in the fray. MASSIVE dvertisement BLITZ on birthdays.birthday bash, having been an Sarpanch, Zilla parishad member, having lost in previous election etc seems to be strength of self propelled candidates Then the exercise of donations to church temples ,clubs and associations etc is resorted to. Increasingly being host or chief guest at tournaments.parties wedding, social occasions to announce their popularity is an instrument of convenience Who cares about past antecedents or precedents of selfless work with track record and passion for sustained social work or past records of defections? The truth is many a times the defectors are reelected by very same voters .Throwing in regular parties and goodies to blind the voters momentarily is favourite tactic of deceit.. Then there iis the wiabilty factor of funding own campaign and also donating to the party funds called as buying ticket
The real task is the ability to take path in legal debates, education specially legal background and ability to bring in legislation. OF late the importance of legislator has degenerated into promises of road , bridge constructions and other activities for which Govt departments exist Just the ability to sway crowds with emotional content based on religion caste etc appeals to voters to identify themselves seem to work . If the candidate proposed by any party has no support of majority of voters it is useless to debate on such a forced choice.Independents are opportunists but due to political disagreements such turn coats or revolutionaries find acceptance in revolts and discontent. What about discarding those who made it as the only profitable career and are determined to dig in ,stick like limpets for years together. THE TALK of new faces is only to wear a mask of difference perception that a balance of new and old makes for a good recipe No where in the world poaching, defections or so called toothless anti defection legislations are in vogue. India is a glaring exceptions that has found no export favour Sometimes the change and an oppirtunity reactions to old regime has turned out to be distraous experiment in oblique thinking There is no reasonable objective criteria for selection , nominating of candidates and with illiteracy being high the right choice always suffers. In fact those with criminal background but not yet convivted is bane of indian politics Muscle piwer and financial clout rules the day So what is laudable campaign of educating voters scratch at best the surface with doubtful outcome of desirable results Nelson Lopes ChinChinim 9850926276
