Why do colleges run by the Goa dioceses feel roman way? From the day one
that is getting admission till your child leave the school the children and
even the parents are harrased by the authorities.You want your child to be
admitted .What a procedure.In how many ques we have to stand .Get the
form,meet the principal etc etc.If your child has to fail in any one subject
in the higher secondary examination God forbid.Big noise.I know a particular
higher secondary and college run by the dioscese the teachers do not finish
the portion.My intellegent child had to remain till 9pm and I had to get her
home and she was in the lab finishing her project with the teacher and one
boy student even stayed there along with the t eacher the whole night.I
myself know how they used to treat us when i was a student just for one
year.Once our teacher had not come and we were told by the peon to go to
the library.There was no place there as other students were already there
and the librarian was grumbling.we went and sat in the canteen. I sat with
a girl from my class and had to take the brunt of the principal who never
gave me chance to explain why I was sitting with the girl but gave me a big
sermao saying that I was wasting my father's money and I have no interest in
life etc etc.As we were very y oung timid fellows I kept quiet.Later on
when I changed my college to Panjim I found the teachers were different.That
college had a big and nice library,co operative teachers who would even sit
with you in the canteen,put hand round you and walk.Those who took science
found the teachers very co operative.We had no difficulties with our
laborartory journals.
I know one student in the higher secondary his result was kept in reserve
because he had written answer in pencil.He was told to get the letter from
the principal to realise his marksheet, and to meet the principal he and his
father had to walk up to the higher secondary three times.We should first
learn to respect your student if you want them to respect you . Once I heard
a teacher firing a student in front of all the staff and telling all the
teachers what kind of student this was. We have a habit of making our
opinions about the students in whatever manner we feel it is correct.Many
teachers draw conclusion without ascertaining the facts. In this particular
college even the office staff is rude. I once phoned the office to inquire
and the people over there were talking bigshot.Refused even to divulge the
name of the person who is talking to me.The day will come when all the
parents will rush to other colleges leaving this college to the romans
