The finest Goan restaurant there is. Both in and out of Goa, in the observable Universe and beyond.
Located in Candolim, the restaurant specializes in - and unapologetically roots for - the Goan Hindu cuisine, specifically the sub-cuisine of the GSBs, the Goud Saraswat Brahmins. The discerning know that under the larger rubric of “Goan cuisine” lie variations across religion, caste, communities, and regions within the state. (The mention of “caste” will offend exactly one person here - the resident biological adult but mental baby Frederick N.) The physical premises are elegantly conceived, with attention to detail in matters of local craft and cultural themes. I was pleased to see the generous separation in the layout of tables. The choice of furniture and the china deployed is flawless. The highlight is, of course, the food. No written word can adequately do justice to the offerings, but the thought, care in preparation, and the finesse showed clearly in every item we sampled. And all at prices that seemed commensurate. Service was top-notch with a solicitous and efficient wait-staff. Clearly, effort has been expended in that department by the owners. These folks have set the bar high. What The Oberoi is to the hotel space, Kokum Curry is to restaurants in general, Goan cuisine in particular. Whether it can sustain these high standards remains to be seen. If there is a minor point of criticism, it is that their web presence needs work. https://kokum-curry.business.site r
