-- samir *BICHOLIM, JULY 18* - Bicholim police has booked an offence against a postmaster from Menkurem Bicholim in connection with the misappropriation of Rs 10,500.
According to reports, Inspector of Post (Mapusa Sub-Division), N K Zorba complained that Pundalik Y Parab, postmaster of the Gramin Dak Seva Branch at Mankurem, had misappropriated recurring deposits worth Rs 10,000, sometime between July 2005 and October 2006. He said Parab, used to recover monthly payments from people with Recurring Deposits and would make entries into their passbooks, but had failed to record the entries into the RD journal. The amount collected by Parab was not credited to the concerned branch of the post office at Menkurem, thereby misappropriating the amount of Rs 10,500.
