I very humbly stand by every word that I have very responsibly written last week on former Curtorim MLA Reginaldo Lourenco. It is all based on his own affidavits. And if he now claims they were inaccurate, then God Save us from someone who was our lawmaker for 15 years.
In fact, due to lack of space (as I try and limit my post to 200 words), I could not dwell on other glaring issues including the Mala Market mega land scam while he was the Chairman of North Goa Planning and Development Authority from 2009 to 2012.. Let us save it for the next of the many parts of this former MLA’s true face. Side by side on account of the malfeasance of successive governments, we have the deteriorating law and order issue. It was long predicted that our once tranquil state was evolving as a lawless destination. The sad ground reality today it that our entire coastal belt from the extreme North to the very end in the South has become a perilous place. The evil of Casinos has only accelerated the transformation of Goa into a gambling, prostitution, drug and crime haven. Tale Calangute, it is no longer that serene village we knew as children enjoying our summer holidays there in peace. Over the decades it has grown into a shabby city which today requires a well equipped police station headed by a Dy.S.P with at least two Inspectors and not less that 150 staff round the clock to ensure good policing and to clean the muck of the last over thirty years.
